Conversations.

One week you find yourself looking back at the pain in the past… and the next, you’re fearing for the future.

They said, Get your head out of the clouds.

You can’t keep on dreaming your whole life. Be logical. Be reasonable. Go to school. Make money. Buy a house. Become a useful citizen that will give back to the community. This will help you choose. This will guide your future.

I said, I don’t know where to go from here.

What path should I take? Which direction should I go? How do I know I’ve made the right choice? For me? For us? For our future? They need to know. I need to know.

He said, Keep your eyes on the cloud.

When it leaves, you will leave. When it stays, you will stay. Follow Me, wherever I go. I will bring you there, in the perfect time.

They said, Just keep swimming.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Keep moving. Don’t stop. There’s no time to rest. Run. Run. Go. Decide. Move. Be fluid. Be smart. Never give up.

I said, I can’t keep my head above water.

Things are hard. Overwhelming. I want things that are too difficult to attain. My head aches. My heart hurts. My arms are tired. Where did You go? How did I get here?

He said, Come to me all who are weary.

Rest by the waters. I am here with you. Always. Talk to me. Sit with me. Listen to me. There’s no need to hurry. Or to run. Feel My Presence. Feel My Peace.

They said, To be understood, you first need to understand.

Do your research. Take notes. Ask the Right Questions. Don’t waste your time, but use it well. Be prepared for the unprepared. Get ahead of the game, and consider your opponent.

I said, The more I know, the more I realize I don’t know.

An overwhelmed, never-ending sentence kind of feeling. I take it in, but which part is important? Which part should I focus on? I’m over-thinking. I’m over-stressing.

He said, Feed on My every word.

You need nothing else.

They said, Life’s not fair.

You’ll work hard, and get nothing for it. You’ll do everything right, but you’ll still be wronged. You’ll be the light in the shadows, but your glow will fade.

I said, What’s the point?

Why desire what I can’t have? Why pray for things I never receive? Why does it always seem just out of reach – out of sight – out of understanding?

He said, Keep your eyes on the Prize.

Don’t forget who you are. Don’t forget who created you. Don’t forget why you’re here. Seek first, and you will find. Seek first, and you will understand. And you will know.

They said, You should.

I said, I can’t.

He said, You can.

I asked, How?

… He repeated, Keep your eyes on the cloud.

Lead me on, Lord, lead me on.
